Director’s Corner January 2016

Geva Salerno2015 was a year of tremendous growth and we’re betting 2016 will be even better! After working diligently on building our infrastructure, including bringing on part-time staff, we are now turning our attention to improving communications with our supporters and our new partnership with the Collier County School District. Under the guidance of the CCPS Science Coordinator we are launching an ambitious campaign to educate elementary school students about the importance of responsible pet ownership and the importance of wolves to natural ecosystems.

Another focus we have is in building the board of directors. Our board was recently joined by two new board members, Jaime Hewitt and Beth Swiderski, who have really provided excellent oversight and guidance. In 2016, we will be on the lookout for two additional board members, bringing our number to eight. We are especially interested in board members who have well-developed networking and fundraising skills.

Our newly invigorated board will help us realize our goal of moving to a new property. It’s an exciting time to be involved with Shy Wolf Sanctuary and we are grateful to our volunteers, supporters and donors for their continued support and enthusiasm as we move toward our goals.

Geva Salerno
