Honey

Fennec Fox

Honey was an owner surrender when life became too complicated to accommodate her unique needs.  She was raised in a home with cats. Our founder, Nancy, renamed her upon arrival so that she would have a new name for a new life.

Maximum weight is about 3.5 lbs for these tiny foxes. Incredibly shy, this super sweet little girl is getting lots of love to help her come out of her shell.  Honey’s character trait is Bashful.

Fennec foxes dwell in the sandy Sahara and elsewhere in North Africa. Their nocturnal habits help them deal with the searing heat of the desert environment, and some physical adaptations help as well. Its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears, which also serve to dissipate heat. The fennec is the smallest species of canid. Its coat, ears, and kidney functions have adapted to high-temperature, low-water, desert environments. Also, its hearing is sensitive enough to hear prey moving underground. It mainly eats insects, small mammals, and birds.
